Uncertainty: What Mom Entrepreneurs Know About Stability That Can Help You Right Now

In times like these, uncertainty is more than just a passing feeling—it’s a constant undercurrent. The last few months in particular have felt like living inside a blender that someone forgot to turn off. And UNCERTAINTY is the one word that keeps popping.

With political, economic, and social shifts happening all at once, many people are feeling overwhelmed, disoriented, and emotionally exhausted For a lot of us, this shows up as anxiety, worry, fear, or just a general sense of being on edge. When we feel this way, we are not able to function and perform at our best.

But what’s really happening beneath the surface?

Now, can I be honest? As a business owner and a divorced mom, things often fell a little uncertain. My daily life is a non-stop juggle of clients, kid, pets, deadlines, laundry, snack prep, Zoom calls, sports, Bible study, and strategy sessions — all balanced on the edge of yesterday’s to-do list and probably still wearing yesterday’s leggings.

Honestly, it’s no surprise so many of us feel like we’re in survival mode — trying to grow a business, be there for our families, and somehow keep the fridge stocked and the house standing, mompreneurs are often the CEOs of emotional stability in our households and companies.

All of this got me thinking: If uncertainty is basically my permanent roommate and co-worker in my life and business, where do I find peace? My first response is my faith and belief in God. But, what’s making this current season feel especially hard for people who aren’t used to living in unpredictability?

Here’s what I’ve come to believe: certainty (and stability) is built on four foundational pillars. When these pillars start to erode or fall apart, we start to feel uncertain.

When we feel uncertain about something, we find comfort and peace by stengthening the following stability pillars.

  • Trust/Belief – In yourself, in your purpose, and in the process, even when outcomes are unclear.

  • Structure/Boundaries – Creating rhythms, routines, and space for what matters most.

  • Accountability – Showing up even when it’s hard, being responsible without overfunctioning.

  • Safety/Security – Emotionally regulating, creating calm amidst chaos, and protecting your energy.

These are not superpowers - they are learned skills.

These aren’t superpowers—they’re learned strategies. And the good news is: they can be acquired and tailored to you and your situation.

As a coach, I help clients strengthen these very pillars in their own lives. Coaching is a space to

  • name the uncertainty,

  • uncover what’s fueling it, and

  • create grounded action that leads to real peace of mind.

It’s not about having all the answers—it’s about increasing self awareness and acquiring tools and skills to weather whatever comes.

If you're feeling anxious, worried, or stressed right now, you are not alone. You have the power inside of you to feel and be secure and at peace.

In the next post, I will discuss some strategies to strengthen trust in yourself and in others.

Your stability is within reach—and coaching can help you claim it.
